Upgraded Infrastructure for AI Development
In order to provide robust computing to facilitate AI and other critical workloads, Alibaba Cloud revealed that its 9th Generation Enterprise Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance will be available in global markets starting April this year. The latest generation of ECS instances has notable performance enhancements compared to its previous iteration, including a 20% increase in computing efficiency. Additionally, by accelerating networks through eRDMA (elastic Remote Direct Memory Access), its performance in supporting high-performance computing, search recommendations, and Redis databases can be further improved by up to 50%.

The cloud pioneer has also announced its innovative Alibaba Cloud Container Compute Service (ACS) is now available for international customers starting from January 2025. Designed for simplified and optimized workload deployment using container technology, the ACS integrates container services with underlying cloud computing resources, significantly reducing costs and technical complexity and enabling developers to focus on innovation rather than infrastructure management.

New GenAI Program to Spark Creativity
To foster innovation, Alibaba Cloud introduced the Alibaba Cloud GenAI Empowerment Program, a dedicated support program for global developers and startups leveraging its Qwen models to build generative AI applications. Participants in the program can gain support including free cloud credits, training workshops, invitation to tech shows and demo days, as well as product co-marketing opportunities. This program is designed to help developers and startups accelerate their generative AI projects while connecting with a broader ecosystem of innovators.

Global Developers and Customers Leveraging Qwen for Cutting-Edge Applications
Axcxept, a Japanese company specializing in AI products such as voice assistants, has developed an open-source, lightweight AI model called EZO based on Qwen 2.5 LLM. The EZO model outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) models in areas such as coding, information extraction, math, reasoning, roleplay, and writing in Japanese. Chicago se alista para una gran redada de migrantes tras la toma de posesión de Trump

La comunidad latina de Chicago se está preparando para una gran redada masiva de migrantes el próximo martes, solo un día después de la toma de posesión como presidente de Donald Trump, en lo que podría ser el primer golpe de su dura política migratoria.

Políticos a nivel local, estatal y federal y organizaciones defensoras de los migrantes están trabajando a contra reloj para informar a las comunidades migrantes sobre sus derechos, prepararlas ante posibles emergencias y orientarlas sobre cómo actuar ante agentes migratorios.

Según publicó The Wall Street Journal el viernes por la noche, el nuevo Gobierno planea una “redada migratoria a gran escala” en Chicago, con el despliegue de entre 100 y 200 agentes del Servicio de Control de Inmigración y Aduanas (ICE, en inglés).

Sin embargo, las filtraciones a la prensa podrían hacer que el Gobierno entrante reconsidere la operación, según declaró anoche a The Washington Post, Tom Homan, designado ‘zar’ de la frontera por Trump.

A pesar de ello, organizaciones defensoras de los migrantes y legisladores que representan a Chicago en el Congreso de Estados Unidos, como el demócrata Jesús “Chuy” García, de origen mexicano, ofrecieron una rueda de prensa el sábado para advertir a la población.

“Nuestra comunidad ha enfrentado ataques desde la década de 1960”, recordó García en declaraciones a EFE, explicando que esa resistencia permitió cambiar regulaciones locales para proteger a los migrantes indocumentados en Chicago y en todo el estado de Illinois.

Chicago se convirtió en 1985 en una de las primeras “ciudades santuario” de Estados Unidos, limitando la colaboración de la policía local con los agentes migratorios federales. Desde entonces ha reforzado esas políticas, especialmente tras el primer mandato de Trump (2016-2021).

“Seguimos afirmando que los inmigrantes traen beneficios a esta ciudad, Illinois y Estados Unidos en su conjunto. Rechazamos las afirmaciones de Trump y otros que sugieren que somos propensos a la conducta criminal. Eso es una falsedad”, afirmó García, quien representa un distrito con más del 66 por ciento de población hispana.

El congresista consideró que la amenaza de deportaciones “pone a prueba” a la comunidad, por lo que instó a mantener la calma y conocer los derechos básicos.

Durante la rueda de prensa, tanto García como Delia Ramírez, legisladora demócrata que también representa a una parte de Chicago en el Congreso, recordaron que los migrantes tienen derecho a guardar silencio, contactar a un abogado y no permitir la entrada a su vivienda sin una orden legal.

Además, los migrantes no están obligados a proporcionar información a los agentes, como su estatus migratorio o lugar de nacimiento.

Organizaciones defensoras de los migrantes llevan meses organizando talleres para informar a la comunidad sobre sus derechos, conscientes de que Chicago, uno de los bastiones demócratas, es un objetivo prioritario en las deportaciones.

Tom Homan ya adelantó semanas atrás que las deportaciones empezarían el “día uno” y que Chicago sería el primer objetivo.

La oposición a las deportaciones también ha llegado desde el sector empresarial. Un grupo de líderes empresariales latinos formó recientemente el Comité de 100, que promueve políticas migratorias prácticas, con fronteras seguras y respeto a los derechos de los migrantes.

Sam Sánchez, copresidente del comité y propietario de un restaurante en Chicago, recordó en declaraciones a EFE que un cuarto de los empleados del sector de la restauración provienen de comunidades inmigrantes.

“Perder a estos trabajadores interrumpe las operaciones, afecta negativamente los servicios y perjudica nuestros negocios. Como líder empresarial latino que apoyó a Trump, insto al presidente a priorizar el crecimiento económico, la estabilidad y un estatus legal para los ‘dreamers’ y los trabajadores esenciales”, señaló Sánchez.

Trump ganó las elecciones de noviembre con la promesa de llevar a cabo “la mayor deportación de la historia” de Estados Unidos.

Pemex debe informar cuánto combustible envió a Cuba

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) debe informar la cantidad de combustible enviado a Cuba durante la Presidencia de Andrés Manuel López Obrador y el primer mes en el cargo de la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum.

Lo anterior por instrucción del Instituto Nacional de Transparencia, Acceso a la Información y Protección de Datos Personales (Inai).

Una persona solicitó la información, pero Pemex respondió que los países, entidades, empresas o instituciones extranjeras no están contempladas como posibles beneficiarias de donaciones de productos petrolíferos o combustibles, por lo que no encontró la documentación solicitada.

El Pleno del Inai analizó el caso y encontró que según disposiciones normativas los países u organizaciones extranjeras sí pueden ser donatarias.

La ponencia del comisionado presidente Adrián Alcalá, advirtió que Pemex solo turnó la solicitud a dos de sus unidades administrativas sin buscar en otras áreas competentes, por lo que emitió una respuesta restrictiva en perjuicio del derecho de acceso a la información.

Revocó así la respuesta de Pemex y le instruyó realizar una nueva búsqueda exhaustiva de la información, con criterio amplio.

La información deberá estar desglosada por cantidad de combustible, valor comercial, fechas de envío y recepción, nombre y cargo de la persona responsable de los envíos, la partida presupuestal, las condiciones comerciales y los importes.

En julio de 2023, Pemex inició el envío de petróleo a Cuba a través de Gasolinas Bienestar.

Una forma 6K de la compañía señaló que durante tal año el valor de las exportaciones fue de 400 millones de dólares. Entre enero y septiembre de 2024, México exportó 31.3 mil barriles de petróleo crudo y 2.9 mil barriles diarios, por un valor de 500 millones de dólares.

Hamás libera a las primeras tres rehenes; ya están en Israel

Las tres rehenes israelíes liberadas por Hamás en el primer día del alto al fuego ya han sido entregadas al Ejército israelí dentro de la Franja de Gaza por parte de los equipos de la Cruz Roja y están camino de Israel, confirmó un portavoz militar.

Se trata de tres mujeres civiles –Emily Damari, Doron Steinbrecher y Romi Gonen– que fueron liberadas en las próximas horas tras 471 días de cautiverio, en canje por 90 presos palestinos, según el acuerdo alcanzado entre Israel y Hamás.

Según medios palestinos, la entrega a la Cruz Roja por parte de las Brigadas al Qasam, brazo armado de Hamás, se ha producido en una céntrica plaza de Ciudad de Gaza.

Son las primeras rehenes liberadas como parte del acuerdo de alto al fuego entre Israel y Hamás, que entró en vigor en la mañana de este domingo, tras un retraso de casi tres horas.

Cuando las fuerzas israelíes reciban a las secuestradas y confirmen su identidad, 90 presos palestinos (mujeres y niños) serán liberados, la mayoría en Cisjordania ocupada, pero 14 de ellos en Jerusalén Este.

En la primera fase del pacto, Israel y Hamás han acordado un alto el fuego de seis semanas, en las que se producirá un intercambio gradual de 33 rehenes israelíes por más de mil 900 presos palestinos.

Durante esas seis semanas tendrán lugar además las negociaciones para una segunda fase de la tregua, en la que se completaría la liberación de todos los secuestrados israelíes en Gaza y se sentarían las bases del fin de la guerra.

Sin embargo, altos cargos israelíes como el ministro de Exteriores, Gideon Saar, han recordado que el alto al fuego es temporal, y que la guerra no acabará hasta que Israel no cumpla todos sus objetivos militares, que pasan por eliminar completamente a Hamás.

El presidente israelí, Isaac Herzog, visitó hoy el Muro de las Lamentaciones en Jerusalén, el lugar más sagrado del judaísmo, para rezar por la liberación de las tres rehenes y la del resto de secuestrados israelíes en Gaza.
