Are you looking to start your career supporting vulnerable adults; working for a charity who makes a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless every day?

We have roles available in Hackney, Brent, Southwark and Lewisham.

The St Mungo’s Pan London Rough Sleeping Teams (No Second Night Out and Somewhere Safe to Stay) provide a rapid response service, intervening to ensure no one needs to sleep rough. We are currently looking for people to join our teams as Night Assessment Workers in our No Second Night Out Assessment Hubs. In these roles you will:

  • Work as part of a busy team environment working closely with those affected by rough sleeping.

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment at night to clients; carrying out assessment when clients first arrive out the service.

  • Work on a 7 day weekly night rota pattern with an average of 3 waking night shifts in a row (for example 8pm–8.30am or 9pm–8am)

About you

These crucial roles will suit people with an interest in in developing key skills to build a career working in a support role, as well as:

  • Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or customers in a busy service environment.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with others effectively to get things done.

  • Some understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.

  • You don’t need to have direct experience, above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to transform their lives.

Are you interested in supporting people at immediate risk of rough sleeping and making a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless?

The St Mungo’s Pan London Rough Sleeping Team (No Second Night Out) provide a rapid response service, intervening to ensure no one needs to sleep rough, our work is ongoing and we are currently looking for people to join our services across London.

As an Assessment and Reconnection Worker, you will:

  • Be part of a busy team environment working closely with people new to, or at risk of rough sleeping.

  • Provide a personalised case management service to clients, turning assessment recommendations into practical action plans which fully involves the client.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships to support clients throughout their recovery.

  • Develop a knowledge of relevant legislation such as, welfare benefit and housing legislation.

  • Work on a weekly rota including early, mid and late shifts (some evening and weekend work may be required).

Are you passionate about supporting and transforming the lives of people who are experiencing homelessness?

We are looking for a creative individual who is wanting to develop valuable skills and experience while playing a key role in providing support to St Mungo’s clients.

The role of the Assistant Support Workers (known internally as Duty Worker) is provide support and activities to clients with an emphasis on co-production and client involvement.

In this role you will be the first point of contact for clients and visitors and have the opportunity to maintain a welcoming and supportive environment within the project. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Working alongside the team to provide a person centred support to residents and clients.
  • Coordinating important Health and Safety checks and other administrative duties.
  • Working as part of a dedicated team in the hostel/accommodation setting to provide a high quality, positive and safe service to clients.
  • Keeping up to date administrative records relating to client work, housing management and health and safety.
  • Working on the weekly shift rota that includes early and late shifts, sleep-ins, as well as some weekends and bank holidays.

About you

This is a fantastic role for people looking to start and develop a career in the sector; a number of current Managers started their career as Duty Workers. You will have:

  • Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment.
  • Personal experience of homelessness and/or an understanding of; and empathy with the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people.
  • A genuine interest in helping vulnerable people to make positive changes in their life, and the willingness to develop these valuable skills
  • Above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who will be committed to our Recovery Ethos, and has a genuine desire to support people to transform their lives.
  • An interest in creative activities and willing to partake in animal care.

Are you looking to work flexibly at the times that you choose, in a variety of roles where you can make a real difference helping homeless people to rebuild their lives?

At St Mungo’s we have a locum bank of approximately 320 casual workers who provide temporary cover, ensuring our services can continue to run smoothly when there are staffing gaps.

We are looking for people who would be interested in joining our locum bank to work across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

St Mungo’s runs a street outreach service and a number of supported accommodation projects in the region and our aim is to support people who may be affected by homelessness to recover from the effects of rough sleeping and move away from a street lifestyle permanently by providing them long term support.

Depending on your skills, expertise and preferences, you may be covering Outreach Worker shifts, where you engage with people who are on the streets sleeping rough, or Support Worker shifts in our accommodation services – this may be day or night.

What we’re looking for:

These important roles will suit people with:

  • Some experience of helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change.

  • An understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people and deal with those who may be in a difficult personal or emotional situation.

Above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to rebuild their lives.

What we can offer you

As a casual locum worker you work flexibly, on an ad hoc or temporary basis and can chose to work the shifts that best fit your circumstances – this can be day or night and covering different level roles, depending on your experience. In order to provide you with ongoing support you will be allocated a supervising manager and you will have access to training to ensure you have the tools to keep our clients safe. We offer enhanced pay for bank holidays and you can also accrue holiday pay.

We pay the following rates of pay:

  • Project Worker: £14.16

  • Outreach Worker: £16.15
