منظمتان غير حكوميتين تحذّران من تلوث واسع بالزئبق لمعلّبات التونة في أوروبا

نبّهت المنظمتان غير الحكوميتين “بلوم” و”فودواتش” هذا الأسبوع ، إلى أن التونة المعلّبة ملوثة إلى حد كبير بمادة الزئبق الضارة بالصحة، داعية التجار والسلطات العامة إلى “اتخاذ تدابير طارئة” من بينها خفض حدود الزئبق القصوى المسموح بها.

وأظهرت تحاليل أجرتها “بلوم” في مختبر مستقل على 148 علبة اختيرت عشوائيا في خمس دول أوروبية هي فرنسا وألمانيا وإنكلترا وإسبانيا وإيطاليا، أن “مئة في المئة من العلب ملوثة بالزئبق”. 

وأوضحت الجمعية التي تدافع عن البيئة أن محتوى الزئبق في أكثر من علبة واحدة من كل علبتين يتجاوز الحد الأقصى المحدد للأنواع الأخرى من الأسماك أي 0,3 مليغرام في الكيلوغرام الواحد.

ولاحظ التحقيق أن “المستويات القصوى للزئبق في سمك التونة المعمول بها حاليا في أوروبا حُدِّدَت على أساس معدل تلوث سمك التونة الملاحظ وليس على أساس الخطر الذي يمثله الزئبق على صحة الإنسان، وذلك لضمان بيع 95 في المئة من سمك التونة”.

ثم حُدِّدَت بميلغرام واحد في الكيلوغرام من “وزن السمكة الطازجة” وليس في المنتج النهائي في العلبة.

 وهذا هو السبب، بحسب الجمعية، وراء السماح في سمك التونة، وهو أحد أكثر الأنواع تلوثا، “بحدّ أقصى لتحمل الزئبق أكبر بثلاث مرات من الأنواع الأقل تلوثا”.

ورأت المنظمتان غير الحكوميتين أن “ما مِن سبب صحي يبرر هذا الفارق: فالزئبق ليس أقل سمية إذا تم تناوله عن طريق التونة، فقط تركيز الزئبق في الطعام هو المهم”.

وتصنّف منظمة الصحة العالمية الزئبق، الموجود خصوصا في الرواسب الجوية من محطات الطاقة التي تعمل بالفحم، ضمن المواد العشر الأكثر إثارة للقلق على الصحة العامة.

 ويمتزج الزئبق في البِحار بالبكتيريا ويتحول إلى ميثيل الزئبق، وهو مشتق أكثر سمية.

وتشير منظمة الصحة العالمية إلى أن “الزئبق الأولي وميثيل الزئبق مضرّان بالجهاز العصبي (…)؛ ويمكن ملاحظة الاضطرابات العصبية والسلوكية بعد التعرض لها”.

وأفيد بأن الأكثر تلوثا في فرنسا علامة “بوتي نافير” Petit Navire التجارية، إذا بلغت نسبة الزئبق في إحدى معلباتها 3,9 ميلغرام في الكيلوغرام.

وإذا وصفت المنظمتان هذا الأمر بـ”فضيحة صحة عامة حقيقية”، دعتا إلى اتخاذ “تدابير طارئة”، وطالبتا المفوضية الأوروبية بجعل النسبة المسموح بها في التونة متوافقة مع المستوى الأقصى الأكثر صرامة الذي حددته للأنواع الأخرى، أي 0,3 ميلغرام في الكيلوغرام.

حريق ضخم يدمر معمل تدوير للمواد التالفة في منطقة “ليفرتون” جنوب غرب ملبورن

شب حريق ضخم في أحد معامل إعادة استخدام المواد البلاستيكية التالفة في منطقة ” ليفرتون” الصناعية الواقعة جنوب غرب مدينة ملبورن عاصمة ولاية فيكتوريا الأسترالية ، ظهر اليوم الثلاثاء.

وقال أكرم الدباغ ، وهو مدير معامل الدباغ للجلود إن سحابة كثيفة من الدخان الملوث غطت سماء المنطقة ، وبدأت العديد من الشركات والمعامل الطلب من موظفيها وعمالها مغادرة المنطقة خشية المضاعفات الصحية السلبية .

وأشار الدباغ في حديثه المختصر لجريدة الناس نيوز الأسترالية أن ألسنة اللهب كانت مرتفعة وأتت على جزء كبير من المعمل ، ولذلك اتخذنا احتياطاتنا نحن اللذين نعمل في الجوار .

وسارعت العديد من سيارات الإطفاء والشرطة والإسعاف للسيطرة على الحريق ومساعدة الأشخاص المتواجدين داخل المعمل .

ولم تعلن الشرطة عن أسباب الحريق ، الذي انتشر دخانه في قسم كبير من المناطق المجاورة .
